The two state solution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict has been the conventional wisdom among politicians and foreign policy experts in Western nations for decades. Despite this mainstream acceptance, it has done nothing to bring peace any closer
for the people of Israel/Palestine. Denial of civil and human rights, confiscation of land and resource for exclusive Israeli use, and total suppression of any attempts to create a Palestinian state have made clear the flaws in the the two state path to peace. An alternative approach appears necessary. IJV-Montreal is proud to present this
discussion on such an alternative: one democratic state. We are especially proud to host two established and respected voices, a Palestinian lawyer and an Israeli peace activist respectively, as they
discuss this possibility. This discussion considers the reality on the ground in Israel/Palestine, what might be done to reach one
democratic state, and what that one state will look like.
